2010

I ran my last race on July 4, 2009. I have not logged a mile since that last race. I decided I had to give my foot the time it needs to heal. I have been seeing a foot specialist monthly, gone to physical therapy, 2 different night splints, hours of stretching exercises, icing, etc. I officiate high school football and basketball, so I'm sure that has slowed down my recovery significantly. I'm just happy to be completing my officiating season in early March and about 85% pain free. I will be attempting some alternative therapy with my foot doctor mid March and will start logging some miles on the treadmill.

2009

I've spent most of 2009 dealing with Plantar Faciitis on my right foot including 6 weeks without any running at all. This occurred after a 13.5 mile training run the first weekend of January. I think it was the result of too much too fast (miles per week increase) and a pair of running shoes that were at the end of it's life. I'm slowly building weekly mileage up each week. I hope to salvage a few 5Ks this summer and fall.

2008

Kent City 15K Ridge Run / 1:13:06 (PR) / Kent City, MI / 3-22-2008

Kent City 15K was an interesting race this year. Take a challenging and hilly course on a combination of paved and gravels roads and then add 3-6 inches of fresh snow from the night before. End result was packed snow and ice on the paved portions and hopping between tire tracks for the best footing on the gravel roads that were unplowed. A few of the hills were extremely slippery and the footing on the unplowed roads was exhausting. Conditions withstanding, I did beat last years time by over two minutes!
